Haiti is our calling.
We're still rebuilding.
Twenty-five centuries ago, a man heard that a people were suffering. He wept, then gathered a community and rebuilt what was broken. That man was Nehemiah, and his story is the reason this ministry has its name.

A family, not an orphanage.
Brother Remile Casimir and his wife Solette saw children in their part of Port-au-Prince with no parents and no home. They followed God's calling and took them in. More than 170 so far, and counting. The children live together at the compound as sons and daughters, and they call the Casimirs Dad and Mom because that is what they are.
Since 1988 Brother Casimir has also planted more than 70 churches across Haiti, many with schools attached. He trains the pastors, tradespeople, and builders who will reshape the country from the ground up. The children grow up inside that work. The older ones learn to build on the compound, tend the fish tanks, and go on to a trade or further study.

The story of Nehemiah
Jerusalem's walls were in ruins, its gates burned to ash. Nehemiah heard what had happened to the people and did not look away. He fell to his knees in prayer, then got to work. He walked into the king's court and asked permission to leave, trading the safety of the palace for the rubble of a broken city.
He gathered a community around a shared vision. Together they rebuilt, even as enemies threatened and obstacles mounted. The walls rose. The city lived again. Today, Haiti is that city. Its people are looking for a community to gather around them, believe in them, and refuse to look away. That is why we are here.

One mission, two shores.
The US team brings construction, business, technology, finance, and project management to the work, but their most important credential is showing up, both stateside and on the ground in Haiti. No one on the team draws a salary.

How the sponsorship program is run.
Global Gospel Initiatives Inc, a US 501(c)(3) nonprofit (EIN 27-4048435), runs the sponsorship program on behalf of Nehemiah's Children. Your monthly gift is made to Global Gospel Initiatives, which handles the receipts, the records, and the administration. It keeps about 2% to cover those costs and grants the rest, after card processing fees, to the ministry in Port-au-Prince. That keeps the Casimirs and their team free to do what they do best. Questions about a gift go to donations@ggimissions.com or (828) 283-0494.
